Berets and Beanies

My latest project! I can't use circular needles so I adapted a pattern to use regular needles Here is the pattern: Now you will need to use some imagination, no need to follow this pattern exactly but if you get the idea you can adapt it to different weights of yarn I used size 10 needles and a bulky weight yarn Cast on 63 sts Knit 8 to 10 rows in rib (K1 P1) next row: switch to stocking stitch 1. k8 m1 in 9th stitch, repeat till end 2. purl 3. k9 m1 in 10th stitch, repeat till end 4.and all even rows Purl 5. k10 m1 in 11th stitch, repeat till end 7.  k11 m1 in 12th stitch, repeat till end. Stitches used: Rib: row 1: k1 p2 row 2 knit as they present themselves (basically a K1P1 rib) Pattern Stitch *Row 1.Slip 1, Knit 2 together, Knit 3 Row 2 Purl row 3 K row 4 P* repeat * to * Plain Stitch Row 1 Knit Row 2 Purl. Knit an easy baby hat

Most of the patterns i have found ask for circular needles - which for some reason i rarely use...so i have adapated a couple of patterns and turned up with this one. I used a Dk type of yarn an 4.5mm needles (not too sure of the US conversion!) Cast on 160 sts and knit 4 rows all in knit - this is for the little frilled edge. next row K2tog to end up with 80 sts. Thats the basis of the hat. After 8 rows of K and P i got bored so i added some eyelets (k 4 k2 together, yarn over needle knit 4 etc but you can omit this or add your own designs) I digress.. after about 22 rows or 2 1/2 " its time to start decreasing So... K8, k2 together till end next row and all wrong side rows purl k7, k2 together..till end K6 2 tog till end you get the idea.... When you have 4 or 5 stitches left STOP! these will form the little cord on top that you can tie, leave loose, stick a pom pom on...whatever! Now y...

Top Down Sweater Free pattern

I have had many request for this pattern so i will try do my best to write it down. You will need about 100gms of yarn and needles to go with the yarn you choose. This pattern will fit most ages as  using larger needles and thicker yarn  will make it bigger! If you know how to enlarge patterns that would help. I used 5 mm needles and medium thick yarn and this was the right size for 4-5 year old The first and last 5 stitches are always K for the button hole band and edge Button holes are made after the first 4 rows and then every 10. Choose the length to end after a button hole plus 4 rows. Cast on 73 sts Knit 3 rows. Make button hole on 4th row, knit to last 4 sts, k2tog YO k2 Increase 7 sts evenly. Establish raglan: 1:Wrong side - purl  (always K the 1st and last 5 sts) 2: Right Side: K5 (the front band) K12 K1 front and back of the next stitch (an increase) place marker K1 b and B K8 K 1 F and B place marker K1 F and B K22 K 1 F and B place m...

Easy knit scarf

This is a super easy scarf to knit - even for a beginner. As always I am hopeless writing patters but I shall give this a try: Use large needles - I used a US 10. You will need lots of different yarns, more or less the same weight and in the colors of your choice. I cast on 50 stitches. Then knitted up the yarns randomly, but attaching the ends using a knot and bow. I didn't join the yarn as one should (hiding the ends) but instead emphasized the join. - Does that make sense? Knit, using stocking stitch, or knit stitch for as long as you like! It will be almost reversible. Also, make sure you change color randomly as you want to avoid a stripy effect. You can purchase the finished version HERE or request a custom order.

Learning new stitches

Mixing Stitches and Colours can make a great design. I got this pattern from an old Filatura Di Crosa pattern book (all in Italian!) It was such fun to make! Front Back Close up of the stitches used
