Honeycomb stitch - scarf or cowl

This stitch is easy but very effective. I used it to make a cowl. For this i used knit picks Andean silk and #10US needles. (6mm) I used a provisional cast on so that i could join the two ends together. The finished result was 12" high and i knitted it to be 26" wide Cast on 50 sts Knit 4 rows in 1st color (in my case this was the taupe) (start pattern changing to color 2, in my case the red) slip 1st 3 sts *Knit in 2nd color until last 3 sts (leave these on left needle) turn and purl to last 3 sts, turn* repeat * to * (you have knitted 4 rows) Change to 1st color knit the 1st 3 slipped stitches *knit 4 drop the 5th stitch until you reach the stitch in 1st color put the right hand needle into the stitch in 1st color pass needle under the dropped stitches and knit it* Keep on for * to * in this way until last 3 stitches and knit these Turn and knit Knit two more rows. Easy scarf or cowl pattern - for adults or children

This is a VERY easy pattern - even I can write it without a mistake! you will need 1 or 2 balls of double knitting (worsted weight) - depending on how long you want it to be Size 5mm needles. cast on 22 sts. Pattern: row 1- k1p1 row 2-knit repeat these 2 rows for as long as you would like the scarf to be thats it! knit as long as you want. You can knit it as a scarf or join the ends for an infinity cowl.

Variations on a design

First of all apologies for the mistake in my cowl pattern...Thanks for pointing it out! I would like to show you some variations: The first one was made narrower and i added a crochet side and knitted triangles... the other was super long so it can be wound around the neck 3 times. i also used 2 colors .

Easy Cowl Pattern - knit today

This is an easy to make cowl pattern. The instructions may not be that easy as i never really write down patterns but this was a request. So here goes. You will need a multiple of 9 sts plus 4. Depending on the yarn and needles you are using, cast on a number of stitches for the required height. I did not use circular needles so you have to cast on the number you need for the height of the scarf and knit as many rows as you  need to get the width (circumference) you would like. I found that if you used larger needles than the yarn requires you will get a softer cowl. Dont use very think yarn, I would not go much thicker than double knitting I used USA number 10 needles and using double knitting, I cast on 58 sts. (6 x 9 =54 + 4 =58) That made the cowl about 12" high. (its squashy so it will gather down)You will have to figure out how many stitches you need according to yarn and needles used, but basically it is a multiple of 9 plus 4. Start with a false cas...
