Lastest craze

I have developed a craze for vintage handkerchiefs! maybe because I dislike paper tissues so much! Look at the beauties I have picked up from FELICESERENO  This is super fine linen that is hand embroidered  This is white cotton batiste all hand worked And this is my favorite! The cotton is so soft it feels like silk and has a lovely hand made lace trim Handkerchiefs can also be used in crafts - if you can bring yourself to cut them up!!

Cable Scarf

Use any yarn that works with size 10 or 5.5mm needles Gauge is not that important here. If you use smaller needles the scarf will be narrower, and wider if you use larger needles. I found the best result is achieved using yarn that works with size 10 (US) needles. Abbreviations sts = stitches K = knit P= Purl CO = cast on Stitches Used Seed stitch (over 6 sts) 1:K1, P1, till end (ending with P1) 2:P1, K1, till end Reverse stocking stitch: P on right side, K on reverse Cable stitch (over 8 sts and 8 rows) Row 1:*Cable 2 back (slip 1st 2 sts on a cable needle and hold them at the back K 2, Kthe  2 sts on the cable needle) Cable 2 front (slip 1st 2 sts on a cable needle and hold them at the front K 2, K the 2 sts on the cable needle) Row 2, 4, 6, 8 - P Row 3,5,7 - K * Row 9 repeat from * to * (in other words row 1-8) These 8 rows form the cable pattern. Instructions CO 34 sts. Set up the pattern: 6 sts in seed stitch 2 in reverse stocking stitch
Super easy wrist warmers, fingerless gloves An excellent project for beginners! Materials: 75-100 grms yarn  and needles to match gauge Gauge: Approx 5 sts = 1" in K2, P2 rib, slightly stretched Directions: CO 38 sts. Row 1: * K2, P2, repeat from * to end of row, ending with K2 Row 2: * P2, K2, repeat from * to end of row, ending with P2 Repeat these two rows until piece measures 7" or desired length. Cast off loosely.(when casting off, knit the sts as presented, it makes for a neater cast off) Sew 1" down from top and 3" up from bottom, leaving the remaining 3" open for thumb. Weave in ends. (if you make these longer, sew down 1" from the top, leave a 3" space open and sew down the rest) Can't be easier! When you get used to this pattern, you can change stitch For example, knit 4" in rib and the rest in stocking stitch, add cables..but that will be another pattern!!

Made in Mogotes

My name is Steph. I’m from New York. I opened my Etsy shop about two months ago after meeting some amazing artisans in a little Colombian village.  I had lived in bustling, multicultural London for 4 years before that, met my Colombian boyfriend then moved with him in March 2011 to his tiny 3,000 people village, isolated in the Andes mountains an hour drive from civilization. On a tourist visa, I couldn’t work, and there was nowhere for me to find work there anyway.  I started learning Spanish and took a class on how to make crafts from a material called guadua, which is similar to bamboo. When the class ended, to fill my days, I started to experiment with making jewelry.  At the same time, I was introduced to a bunch of different creative people who worked with guadua as well as fique – a material that comes from a plant in the pineapple family. I was invited to watch the whole process of how the plant evolves into a beautiful handbag. (photos here:  madeinmogotes.wordpress. com/fique

Designs by Harriet

I live near Indianapolis, Indiana, am married and have one son. I was the curator of American art at my local art museum for 25 years before venturing into jewelry design.  In my role as a curator I critiqued many artists, put on lots of shows and wrote my share of books and articles, now I am on the artist side and fine it very strange to be critiqued by others.  I took several jewelry classes at my local art center, and eventually received my certification in Precious Metal Clay. I also studied beading. My jewelry consists of wire wrapped gemstones, metalwork and pmc.  I have participated in numerous shows and have had my work in area shops.  When I first started I was surprised to realize I had a talent for making jewelry, since I have never considered myself an artist.  I could always tell good art from bad, but I never thought of doing my own creations.  I love to see people wearing my jewelry and having a following of museum docents who I trained, who always wear my creations.

MadlensRibbonRiot

My name is Madlen and I was born and raised in Germany. In 2005, I was an exchange student in the small town of Burkburnett, TX. Quite exciting I have to say! After my exchange year, I went back home for a couple years to finish up my German high school diploma and then came back for college, also in North Texas. I graduated in 2010 with a degree in Psychology and this Fall I will be a Graduate student on Long Island. I just hope I will still have enough time for my little addiction for Etsy! In the meantime I am also planning my wedding on 11.11.11 in Vegas and I still don't have a dress!  Anyway, the technique I use for my items is called "artichoke technique" in Germany. My cousin introduced me to it about ten years ago when we were snowed in a cabin. We definitely didn't get bored that winter! The technique is considered somewhat "old school" in Germany as far as I know, so my goal is to modernize it with different patterns and styles. I find a lot of i

Heather Anne

My name is Heather Doucette and I currently live in Toledo, Ohio with my husband, two children and three dogs. My husband is in the Coast Guard, so we are constantly moving every 3 years or so. I've had a wide variety of employment positions over the years, but the only one that's made me the happiest is being creative and artistic on Etsy. I've served in the Coast Guard also, for seven years, and have created murals for them at certain units. I've also been a veterinary technician, personal trainer, and receptionist at a car dealership. Other than being a full time step-mom, wife, and Etsy shop owner, I'm currently going to school online and will be receiving my Bachelor's degree in October. At the end of October, I will be starting my Master of Business Administration.   We have only lived in Toledo for a few months, and since we have moved here, I've been working hard to promote my Etsy shop in the hope that it will grow to help support my family. I love

Wild Rose Herbs

My name is Ash, I am the creator of Wild Rose Herbs which is a collection of my favorite personal herbal recipes. I have recently done a huge expansion of my herbal product line to include a broad range of the products I use on myself and my loved ones. Everything is plant based, nothing artificial. Every product contains original essential oil blends, so they offer the benefits of aromatherapy as well. I am constantly adding more to my various herbal collections. But, my shop really branches out into nearly every crafty category you can imagine. I am an avid knitter, felter, screen printer, artist of many mediums. I try to take a unique approach with everything I do. Come take a look and you'll see what I mean! www.wildroseherbs.etsy.com www.facebook.com/wildroseherbs

Be The Light

My name is Luz which means "light" in Spanish. I am from the Dominican Republic but came to United States in 1997 to live in Miami, Florida with my 2 year old boy. I met my husband right before hurracaine Katrina and got married two years later in 2007. We moved to Lafayette, Lousiana, but the transition was really hard for me and my husband who also loves Florida decided it was time to move back there. We moved, stayed there for 2 years (2009 - 2011) but two months ago we had to move back to Lafayette, because of my husband's job. Because I have not found a job, I decided to turn my passion to create jewelry into my business, and to use my name as my concept. "Be the light" is what every woman has to be.
