Cut the yarn leaving a long thread, and thread this through the remaining stitches and pull tight. Secure with a couple of stitches.
Now stitch down the sock using a flat seam so that the sock will feel comfortable.

EASY!!!

For more experienced knitter, the 20 center stitches can be worked in a pattern like cables.

Hi there Louise,
Thank you so much for sharing this pattern. Finally a pair of knitted socks that do not require the ever so intimidating round or dpn needles.

I can't wait to give these a try.

Have a wonderful Christmas!!!!

I don't how or where to pick up 10 stitches, I dont understand the heel at all
Anonymous said…
I had trouble, too, but figured it out. Use the left needle and weave it through the long edge of those 16/17 rows just knitted to create 10 stitches on the left needle. then, treat them as stitches to knit.

I'm having a lot of trouble with picking up the ten stitches as well. I do not understand what to do even a little bit...ive been looking for online tutorials but cant seem to find anything using straight needles

Thank you for the brilliant pattern, I've been looking for a straight knit sock pattern for a while that wasn't too hard. I followed the advice from other comments for picking up the 10 stitches and it worked perfectly. Just successfully followed this one to make a sock- about to get started on the second....

G'day Louise, this is the easiest most successful 2 needle sock pattern I have used. I used 8ply ( DK) yarn on 4 mm needles and they fit great for me and my adult daughters. I am going to try it now with 4ply ( baby yarn on 3.25mm needles for one of my granddaughters as I am not sure how to adjust the pattern.
Cheers, Elizabeth in Oz

Thank You, so much on this pattern for socks on two needles! I can't wait to give it a try. I've bee looking for one like this for a long time.
I just have one question.... How can't print it this pattern out, without getting all the other having to print everyone's comments at the bottom, it take too much ink when I have to print everything on the page and I can't seem to find a spot that says, print pattern only.

Thanks again for this pattern!

Hi there,
Can someone explain how I knit 11sts and then only knit on those sts for 16 rows, does it mean I have to use a third needle on that section? I've never come across that before...

Thank you sooo much for this brilliant sock pattern. I have knit 3 pairs and can honestly say this pattern is the best ever sock pattern as its incredibly easy to follow. I have always been put off sock knitting as I can't use circulars and I don't care for double pointed needles. If you are unsure about wanting to try this pattern 'go for it' you will be hooked! A tip though - try knitting the socks with a yarn with a bit of wool in it as a 100% acrylic yarn 'bags' a little bit, well that's what I found or maybe I just knit loosely?? I'd love to scale these down for my 3yr old nephew any ideas anyone?

Thank you so much for the adult pattern, I've been knitting the baby socks this way for years now. Now I can do some for myself. for those wanting the baby pattern, try google, (baby knits patterns, two-needle socks) hope this helps. I also love doing socks on 4 needles. BY the way to save time I work on 2 socks using 2 separate balls of yarn and 2 sets of needles. Work on one for so far then put it down and work the other to catch up.This way they finish about the same time .

No. You simply knot the 11sts turn your work as if u were done the row, then continue on those 11 ignoring the other sts.

Thank you so much for this pattern, I’ve knitted many pairs & I have just adjusted it for my grandchildren. I have had greatest success with bamboo yarn & is better for my daughters/daughter in laws as it washes better!!!

Hi. I'm using your pattern to knit my very first sock and I was wondering if you use the 11 stitches or the unworked stitches for making the heel and I was also wondering what the "-" means in your pattern.

Many people appear to need help with this pattern, I'm sure I can help. Every technique in this pattern is standard in knitting, however even though this is a straight needle knit, it is an intermediate pattern and requires some of those skills to complete it. The techniques needed are short row shaping, pick up and knit as well as flat or invisible seam, to make the socks successfully. As far as printing just the pattern from this page the steps to do that are- with the page open on screen, right click your mouse, this will open a new dialogue box, in the new box scroll down to and click on print, this will take you to print preview, in print preview change "print all" to just the pages of the pattern and instruct the print to just print them, to avoid all the wasted ink and paper. So, to do that change from "all" to "custom" then type 1-5 in the box, to just print the pages with the pattern without all the comments. Hope this helps someone, happy knitting!

I have a knit a few socks, also using complicated patterns, but i'm finding the second part of the heel confusing.I corrected the part for heel shaping, where it says to knit, but should have said in stocking stitch. And now the heel has gone the wrong way I'm sure!So I'm trying to figure out why, as there's no image to show what is now happening to form a flat shaped heel. I've read and re read the instructions, and turned the kntting round and round to see how it fits together. Picking up the 10 sts no problems I'd like to add.Any good tips please

2 needle fingerless gloves

This is an easy pattern that can be adapted according to your skill. I used worsted weight yarn and US 5 needles. You need just over 50gms of yarn. I also found that knitting them both at the same times ensures that they bout turn out the same ! Cast on 42 sts Knit 20 rows in k2 p2 rib on the 20th row place markers this way: k20 place marker, k2, place marker, k20 the 2 sts between the markers will form the increase for the thumb. Switch to stocking stitch (1 row K - right side- 1 row P - wrong side) Knit to marker, (20 sts) knit twice in the next stitch and in the one after that (the sts between the markers) K20 next row and all wrong side rows, Purl Knit 20 sts (you have reached the marker) knit twice in next stitch, K2 (till next marker) and K twice in the stitch before the marker K20 Continue this way, always increasing a stitch at each marker till you have 16sts between the markers. k 2 rows then with right side facing, k20, CO 16, k20 (shaping the thumb) nex
