My name is Madlen and I was born and raised in Germany. In 2005, I was an exchange student in the small town of Burkburnett, TX. Quite exciting I have to say! After my exchange year, I went back home for a couple years to finish up my German high school diploma and then came back for college, also in North Texas. I graduated in 2010 with a degree in Psychology and this Fall I will be a Graduate student on Long Island. I just hope I will still have enough time for my little addiction for Etsy! In the meantime I am also planning my wedding on 11.11.11 in Vegas and I still don't have a dress!
Anyway, the technique I use for my items is called "artichoke technique" in Germany. My cousin introduced me to it about ten years ago when we were snowed in a cabin. We definitely didn't get bored that winter! The technique is considered somewhat "old school" in Germany as far as I know, so my goal is to modernize it with different patterns and styles. I find a lot of inspiration by what I find in my environment and by my mom. She has a lot of ideas and since she still lives in Germany, she frequently sends me craft magazines, shapes I can't find here, and special ribbon. Gotta love her!
