I have developed a craze for vintage handkerchiefs! maybe because I dislike paper tissues so much! Look at the beauties I have picked up from FELICESERENO  This is super fine linen that is hand embroidered  This is white cotton batiste all hand worked And this is my favorite! The cotton is so soft it feels like silk and has a lovely hand made lace trim Handkerchiefs can also be used in crafts - if you can bring yourself to cut them up!!

Use any yarn that works with size 10 or 5.5mm needles Gauge is not that important here. If you use smaller needles the scarf will be narrower, and wider if you use larger needles. I found the best result is achieved using yarn that works with size 10 (US) needles. Abbreviations sts = stitches K = knit P= Purl CO = cast on Stitches Used Seed stitch (over 6 sts) 1:K1, P1, till end (ending with P1) 2:P1, K1, till end Reverse stocking stitch: P on right side, K on reverse Cable stitch (over 8 sts and 8 rows) Row 1:*Cable 2 back (slip 1st 2 sts on a cable needle and hold them at the back K 2, Kthe  2 sts on the cable needle) Cable 2 front (slip 1st 2 sts on a cable needle and hold them at the front K 2, K the 2 sts on the cable needle) Row 2, 4, 6, 8 - P Row 3,5,7 - K * Row 9 repeat from * to * (in other words row 1-8) These 8 rows form the cable pattern. Super easy wrist warmers, fingerless gloves An excellent project for beginners! Materials: 75-100 grms yarn  and needles to match gauge Gauge: Approx 5 sts = 1" in K2, P2 rib, slightly stretched Directions: CO 38 sts. Row 1: * K2, P2, repeat from * to end of row, ending with K2 Row 2: * P2, K2, repeat from * to end of row, ending with P2 Repeat these two rows until piece measures 7" or desired length. Cast off loosely.(when casting off, knit the sts as presented, it makes for a neater cast off) Sew 1" down from top and 3" up from bottom, leaving the remaining 3" open for thumb. Weave in ends. (if you make these longer, sew down 1" from the top, leave a 3" space open and sew down the rest) Can't be easier! When you get used to this pattern, you can change stitch For example, knit 4" in rib and the rest in stocking stitch, add cables..but that will be another pattern!!

I opened my Etsy shop about two months ago after meeting some amazing artisans in a little Colombian village.  I had lived in bustling, multicultural London for 4 years before that, met my Colombian boyfriend then moved with him in March 2011 to his tiny 3,000 people village, isolated in the Andes mountains an hour drive from civilization. On a tourist visa, I couldn’t work, and there was nowhere for me to find work there anyway.  I started learning Spanish and took a class on how to make crafts from a material called guadua, which is similar to bamboo. When the class ended, to fill my days, I started to experiment with making jewelry.  At the same time, I was introduced to a bunch of different creative people who worked with guadua as well as fique – a material that comes from a plant in the pineapple family. I live near Indianapolis, Indiana, am married and have one son. I was the curator of American art at my local art museum for 25 years before venturing into jewelry design.  In my role as a curator I critiqued many artists, put on lots of shows and wrote my share of books and articles, now I am on the artist side and fine it very strange to be critiqued by others.  I took several jewelry classes at my local art center, and eventually received my certification in Precious Metal Clay. I also studied beading.
