Be The Light

My name is Luz which means "light" in Spanish. I am from the Dominican Republic but came to United States in 1997 to live in Miami, Florida with my 2 year old boy. I met my husband right before hurracaine Katrina and got married two years later in 2007. We moved to Lafayette, Lousiana, but the transition was really hard for me and my husband who also loves Florida decided it was time to move back there. We moved, stayed there for 2 years (2009 - 2011) but two months ago we had to move back to Lafayette, because of my husband's job. Because I have not found a job, I decided to turn my passion to create jewelry into my business, and to use my name as my concept. "Be the light" is what every woman has to be. Bio for Heather Webster (Donutdisco) I’ve been making linoleum block prints since 2001 when I was living in Maine. At that time I was a beekeeping as a hobby and exploring a potential career in healthcare, with a focus on holistic birth options for women. I was very involved with social activism and grassroots organizing, and through all these “off the grid” interests I was exposed to various forms of folk art, and artists like Nikki McClure, Seth Tobocman, Peter Kuper and Marc Vallen. These images seemed timeless, versatile and organic. I love being able to see the cut marks in the prints and these images seemed to convey more than just beauty and skill, but subversive and powerful ideas. I moved to Portland, Oregon in 2006, where I continued my education in healthcare and kept developing my linocuts. I found that making prints that conveyed life interests and a general love for cuteness also had its place in folk art and printing. These images were made especially adora

Joy Scott I grew up in Greenwich Village, NYC. Then I went on to get a degree in Fashion Merchandising; after graduation spending several years working for high end retailers. Wanting something more artistic, I went to work as a photo stylist, working with the team developing the props and layouts for a group of well known photographers in New York. Over the years I have tried painting in oils, acrylics and watercolors. During my search for the right artistic fit, I spent years working on the wheel in pottery. I couldn't find the colors in the glazes I needed to express myself. Finally after taking courses in many different areas I found my calling in fused glass. I spent months taking courses in Arizona developing techniques and finding new methods to express my love of color and design... http://www.etsy.com/shop/ joyscottglass?ref=si_shop https://www.facebook.com/ pages/Coastal-Art-Glass/ 211101898916763 Website  www.coastalartglass.com ******** I adore books

Hello I'm Michelle from Healthiersteps. I'm a homeschool mom of 2 children and a registered nurse by background, I started making soaps as part of desire that I had for years and I wanted to include soap making as part of my homeschooling. A friend of mine showed me to make basic soap and my interest peaked from there on. I read every book I could get my hand on. I researched a lot on the internet  My daughter DeVannah who likes working on the computer helps with design and labeling. My husband helps by making the mold and cutting the soaps. Our entire family use the soaps I make even on my 2 year old delicate skin.  I make handcrafted soaps which are completely natural, free of artificial ingredients. My soaps are exceptionally good for all skin types including sensitive skin. I love natural beauty and I'm inspired by the things in nature in creating my soaps. I use essential oils such as rose otto, lavender, lemon, litsea, clays, herbs and natural colorants such as plan
